BASIC FUNCTION

The Engineering Project Coordinator leads cross-functional engineering execution from concept through launch, ensuring delivery of defined engineering deliverables (requirements, design outputs, verification/validation evidence, and manufacturing readiness) that are on-time and on-schedule. This role is accountable for integrating technical plans across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls/firmware as applicable), aligning resources and dependencies, and driving disciplined engineering execution across global and regional teams.

The Engineering Project Coordinator drives engineering governance through technical milestone planning, design and readiness reviews, risk/issue management (RAID), and clear escalation paths to keep engineering work progressing. Success depends on informal leadership-building networks, influencing without authority, and partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and regional teams to resolve trade-offs, remove blockers, and maintain alignment to global product and platform priorities. This role also improves engineering execution by developing and deploying practical Engineering Project Management standards, templates, and best practices that help regional teams deliver consistent, globally aligned outcomes.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Technical & Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Provide informal leadership to align engineering disciplines and cross-functional partners on technical scope, priorities, and delivery timing; drive decisions and accountability to meet NPD engineering deliverables.
  • Facilitate technical alignment & timely decisions by bringing the right engineering and functional stakeholders together; document actions, owners, and due dates to ensure follow-through.
  • Promote accountability for engineering milestone commitments and timely completion of NPD Engineering deliverables.
  • Champion consistent engineering execution practices (requirements management, configuration/change control, RAID, and stage-gate evidence) to enable predictable delivery across regions and programs.

  • Provide clear, timely reporting of engineering progress and readiness (milestones, test status, open issues, key decisions), including schedule, scope, risks, and actions.

  • Drive technical risk management and change control (e.g., engineering change requests/orders as applicable) to protect timeliness, performance, and deliverable quality.

Engineering Execution & Controls:

  • Drive NPD Engineering execution using integrated technical plans, schedule, and readiness evidence to deliver on-time outcomes.
  • Create and maintain the integrated engineering plan (requirements, design outputs, verification/validation plan, and launch readiness evidence) with clear deliverables, owners, and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain the integrated master schedule, manage dependencies, and track critical path activities; drive recovery plans when milestones are at risk.

  • Run engineering governance routines (weekly execution reviews, design/test readiness reviews, gate evidence reviews) and maintain dashboards that provide visibility to milestone health, technical risks, and decisions.

  • Continuously improve the engineering execution system (standard work for planning, reviews, risk management, and evidence capture) to increase predictability, speed, and delivery quality across the engineering portfolio.

Standards & Continuous Improvement:

  • Develop, deploy, and continuously improve Engineering Project Management processes, standards, and guidelines that enable consistent global execution and accelerate NPD delivery.
  • Create and maintain Engineering Project Management standard work (templates, checklists, guidance) for charters, schedules, cost tracking, risk logs, and status reporting.
  • Partner with Engineering leads and functional stakeholders to review milestone/gate readiness criteria and ensure consistent application across regions and programs.
  • Define and track project performance metrics (schedule adherence, cost variance, milestone predictability) and drive lessons learned to improve future execution.
  • Coach teams on Engineering Project Management expectations and tools; contribute to training materials and communities of
