    Engineering Operations Coordinator - Sterling Heights, Michigan



    Position Summary of the Engineering Operations Coordinator:
    Our customer is seeking an organized, proactive, and highly dependable Engineering Operations Coordinator to support their Engineering organization at their Sterling Heights headquarters.

    This is a diverse, hands-on role for someone who enjoys keeping people, projects, systems, and day-to-day activities organized. The position supports Engineering leadership and team members through financial tracking, purchasing, reporting, administrative coordination, office support, meetings, and special events.

This position is best suited for someone who enjoys being the person others can rely on to keep thing organized and get things done. Success requires flexibility, initiative, good judgment, and a willingness to help wherever needed. Some responsibilities are highly structured and detail-oriented, while other require stepping in, solving a problem, coordinating people, or handling an unexpected need. The right person will become a trusted resource for the Engineering team and an important connection point between Engineering, manufacturing facilities, customers, suppliers, and other departments.


    Key Responsibilities of the Engineering Operations Coordinator:
    Engineering & Administrative Coordination:
    • Track Engineering Design & Development (ED&D) funding, expenses, purchase orders, quotes, invoicing, and program activity
    • Maintain monthly and annual Engineering business plans and supporting reports
    • Prepare purchase requisitions and coordinate POs for prototype requirements, training, software/licenses, Design Studio needs, events, and other Engineering purchases
    • Process and track supplier and customer invoices
    • Support cancellation claims, labor reporting, project codes, and R&D tax-credit documentation
    • Maintain Engineering organizational information, floor plans, vacation tracking, and other department records
    • Support ADP timekeeping, vacation, project-code, and labor-reporting activities
    Travel, Expense & Support System:
    • Support administration of corporate travel and expense system, including user management, expense processing, policy updates, and reporting
    • Coordinate with Accounting and other corporate facilities as needed
    • Assist employees with system travel, expense, and administrative questions
    Department & Office Support:
    • Help coordinate Engineering meetings, supplier Lunch & Learns, customer visits, lunches, and special events
    • Order catering, refreshments, snacks, suppliers, and other department needs
    • Support Design Studio, Sales, and company events with purchasing and coordination as needed
    • Coordinate department inventory audits and communications
    • Oversee scheduling, maintenance, repairs, and administrative needs for the company van
    • Help maintain an organized, professional Engineering environment, including printers, supplies, common areas, and facility-related requests

    Qualifications of the Engineering Operations Coordinator:
    • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow tasks through to completion
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Comfortable working with employees at all levels of the organization as well as customers and suppliers
    • Experience with purchasing, POs, invoicing, expense reporting, or financial tracking preferred
    • Strong Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and general computer skills
    • Experience with automotive CMS, ADP, Navan, or similar system is a plus
    • Automotive, manufacturing, engineering, and/or Tier 1 supplier experience preferred
    • Ability to work independently, identify what needs to be done, and take initiative
