Position Overview

We are seeking a Sustaining Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for supporting released products throughout their entire lifecycle. This position will provide technical leadership and people management while ensuring products remain reliable, manufacturable, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with customer and business requirements.

The manager will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Management, Customer Support, and New Product Development to resolve technical issues, improve existing products, manage engineering changes, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Sustaining Engineers.
• Provide technical direction for released products throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead root cause analysis, failure investigations, corrective actions, and CAPA activities.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues, improve yield, and reduce costs.
• Oversee engineering changes, deviations, ECOs/ECNs, and technical documentation.
• Support customer escalations and field issues through engineering analysis and corrective solutions.
• Ensure products maintain compliance with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and regulatory certifications.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, reliability, manufacturability, cost reduction, and product performance.
• Manage engineering priorities, workload, resources, and project assignments.
• Coach and develop engineers through technical guidance, mentoring, and performance management.
• Partner with New Product Development and ETO teams to ensure smooth transition of new products into sustaining engineering.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to improve long-term product health and operational performance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering management or technical leadership experience.
• Background in sustaining engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related engineering disciplines.
• Experience with root cause analysis, failure investigations, CAPA, and corrective action processes.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Experience working with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and/or Product Management.
• Experience with engineering change management, ECO/ECN processes, and technical documentation.
• Experience with 3D CAD and PLM systems.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to balance hands-on technical problem solving with team leadership and resource management.
