We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary hardware engineering organization responsible for the development, release, and support of sophisticated power electronic products. This individual will provide both technical leadership and personnel management for the electrical engineering team while overseeing PCB design activities and coordinating organizational support for mechanical engineering resources.
The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in power electronics, analog controls, power conversion, thermal management, and hardware architecture, with the ability to guide products from concept through production release and sustaining engineering.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop electrical engineering personnel while providing organizational oversight for PCB design and mechanical engineering resources.
  • Establish engineering standards, development methodologies, technical best practices, and long-term product development strategies.
  • Align engineering priorities with product roadmaps, customer requirements, and business objectives while managing staffing, project assignments, resource allocation, and development schedules.
  • Lead the architecture and development of industrial power conversion and control systems, including power stage design, component selection, derating strategies, thermal performance, and reliability considerations.
  • Provide technical leadership for analog circuitry, sensing, protection systems, filtering, control-loop design, auxiliary power supplies, and embedded hardware platforms.
  • Drive system-level optimization related to efficiency, thermal performance, manufacturability, reliability, cost, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee engineering efforts related to EMI/EMC performance, grounding, shielding, filtering, PCB layout constraints, and packaging considerations.
  • Establish expectations for simulation, modeling, validation testing, and design margin analysis while ensuring robust engineering review processes.
  • Conduct design reviews, technical evaluations, risk assessments, and engineering decision-making activities throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support troubleshooting, root-cause investigations, customer escalations, product improvements, and sustaining engineering initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, components, and design methodologies to support future product development efforts.
  • Partner closely with firmware, manufacturing, quality, test, applications, and operations teams to support new product introduction and production readiness activities.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding performance, cost, schedule, and risk tradeoffs while ensuring effective communication across all engineering disciplines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience developing power electronic systems, industrial controls, motor control products, power conversion equipment, or related technologies.
  • Previous experience leading engineering teams, technical programs, or product development organizations.
  • Strong understanding of analog closed-loop control systems, stability analysis, compensation techniques, and filtering methodologies.
  • Experience designing and analyzing high-voltage, high-current mixed-signal power electronics.
  • Hands-on experience with switching and linear power supply architectures, isolation techniques, and magnetic components.
  • Proficiency with engineering analysis and simulation tools such as SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, Mathcad, or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience reviewing PCB designs for power density, thermal performance, signal integrity, and EMI considerations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing engineering teams within a product development environment.
  • Background in industrial automation, robotics, motion control, aerospace, transportation, renewable energy, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Familiarity with UL, IEC, CE, or similar regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, DSP-based control architectures, and hardware/firmware integration.
  • Working knowledge of C programming and embedded development environments.
  • Experience with advanced semiconductor technologies including silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN).
  • Magnetics design experience involving transformers, inductors, and magnetic material selection.
  • Expertise in thermal management and cooling strategies for high-power electronic systems.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering efforts involving electrical, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams.
Additional Information
  • Full-time, on-site leadership position.
