Lead Engineer for Specialty Chemical Formulations

Job Description

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers by setting priorities, providing technical guidance, and supporting career growth. Deliver hands-on technical leadership to ensure engineering resources effectively support production operations. Oversee process engineering efforts to ensure safe and efficient production of high-purity chemical products. Drive initiatives to improve yield, throughput, cost efficiency, and overall process capability while maintaining stringent quality standards. Collaborate with Operations to resolve production challenges and implement sustainable process improvements. Lead root cause investigations related to process deviations, equipment performance, or product quality, and ensure corrective actions are executed. Manage raw material engineering activities, including supplier technical engagement, material qualification, and performance evaluation. Partner with Supply Chain and Quality teams to maintain consistent raw material standards and supplier reliability. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven and structured problem-solving approaches. Support and lead capital projects, including process upgrades, equipment installations, and capacity expansion. Ensure all engineering activities meet environmental, health, safety, and regulatory standards. Contribute to process safety programs, hazard assessments, and incident investigations. Act as the primary technical liaison between engineering and other functions such as Operations, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and R&D. Provide engineering support for new product introductions, scale-ups, and technology transfers. Maintain technical documentation, standards, and knowledge systems to ensure consistency across operations.

The Successful Applicant

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field required
  • Advanced degree preferred

Experience

  • 8-10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, specialty materials, semiconductor-related production, or similar regulated environments
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience managing engineering or technical teams
  • Proven experience supporting complex processes, troubleshooting issues, and driving process improvements
  • Experience in high-purity or semiconductor-related manufacturing environments is highly desirable
