Job Summary

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Engineering Document Control Specialist to support engineering and manufacturing teams by maintaining accurate, accessible, and controlled technical information.

This role will coordinate engineering document control, release packages, project records, document reviews, and the organization and migration of legacy engineering data. The position is primarily office-based with regular interaction with engineering, manufacturing, and shop environments.

Document Control & Engineering Systems

• Maintain and improve document-control practices for CAD models, drawings, released PDFs, specifications, bills of materials, test records, work instructions, forms, and technical documentation.
• Support SOLIDWORKS PDM workflows, metadata, revision practices, release states, templates, and document history.
• Administer SharePoint engineering libraries and project workspaces, including metadata, permissions, version history, approval status, and controlled-document publishing.
• Coordinate engineering release packages to ensure drawings, PDFs, supporting documents, approvals, and revision information are complete.
• Maintain separation between working files, approved controlled documents, released product-definition data, and obsolete/legacy records.
• Lead the inventory, triage, migration, and read-only archival of legacy engineering data from network drives, OneDrive, SharePoint, local folders, and other locations.
• Coordinate document reviews, approvals, revision notifications, periodic reviews, and archival activities.

Project & Production Support

• Manage physical and digital project records, including project binders, photos, drawings, test documentation, and customer or supplier reference files.
• Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure current released drawings, work instructions, and technical documents are available at the point of use.
• Assist with project coordination, schedule updates, documentation status, action-item tracking, and cross-functional communication.
• Support validation-test documentation, including controlled test plans, test records, supporting evidence, and final documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, operations, purchasing, vendors, and suppliers to support project execution.

Process Improvement

• Help develop engineering and manufacturing best practices, templates, naming conventions, and standardized processes.
• Prepare reports on document-control status, approvals, overdue reviews, release readiness, migration progress, and process improvements.
• Train and support users on document-control practices, PDM and SharePoint workflows, and applicable engineering standards.
• Identify process gaps and recommend practical improvements.
• Maintain working knowledge of company products, engineering documentation practices, and applicable industry standards.

• Associate degree or comparable technical, manufacturing, engineering, quality, or document-control experience preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, technical documentation, project coordination, document control, or a related field.
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing CAD drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
• Strong organizational, administrative, written communication, and follow-through skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of document revision control, approval workflows, controlled documents, and records management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with engineers, manufacturing personnel, supervisors, and cross-functional teams.
• Valid driver's license.

• Experience with SOLIDWORKS PDM, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, or comparable document-management systems.
• Experience supporting engineering releases, controlled technical documentation, manufacturing documentation, or quality records.
• Experience with data migration, document-library organization, workflow administration, or process standardization.
• Familiarity with OSHA, ASME, AWS, AAR, or other applicable engineering and manufacturing standards.

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and communicate throughout the workday.
• Ability to work safely in office, engineering, manufacturing, and shop environments.
• Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, or climb as needed.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry files, tools, parts, or equipment up to 25 lbs; assistance is available for heavier or ergonomically challenging items.
• Ability to occasionally travel between company locations, customer sites, vendor locations, and field operations.
