Salary Range: Up to $70,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary

The Engineering Coordinator provides architectural and engineering support to facilities maintenance projects, operational programs, and associated software and databases.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements facilities processes and programs; oversees software, data updates, and data integrity; and provides support to projects.
  • Coordinates facilities operations and maintenance (O&M) project oversight. Coordinates with superintendents and maintenance leaders on personnel assignments to monitor preventive maintenance (PM) projects.
  • Maintains an updated list of Facilities O&M personnel assignments by project.
  • Represents the department in PM construction reviews. Maintains the O&M design requirement document and provides updates as needed.
  • Reviews architectural and engineering design specifications and drawings to ensure they meet the University's design standards, solicits technical input from the Trade Specialist, and ensures the designs are sustainable for operation and maintenance.
  • Represents the department in project close-outs. Administers the Facilities O&M project acceptance process. Accepts O&M manuals, warranties, and as-builts and distribute/file appropriately.
  • Provides facilities project recommendations using computer design and other project software tools. Develops minor project scopes with justification, return on investment, and product selection recommendations.
  • Provides oversight, quality control, and data updates for operational databases such as SharePoint, Boiler Inspection and Road Paving spreadsheets, Web TMA, and Sightline databases.
  • Assists in the continued development of the Preventive Maintenance Program, including initiating new or modifying existing task codes, inputting new or replacement equipment, documenting new processes, and other related activities.
  • Provides Facilities O&M business coordination. Interfaces with Facilities Business, Office, and customers on Service Level Agreements (SLAs) as required. Supports SLA documentation, updates electronic documents, and views Web TMA for information.
  • Assists with financials by estimating/determining funding requests in coordination with the Business Office and/or Facilities Management.
  • Supports the Deferred Maintenance Program. Collects and documents equipment and infrastructure for which maintenance has been deferred, has become obsolete, or has reached the end of its serviceable life.
  • Assigns cost estimates needed to fund deferred maintenance projects and makes recommendations on scheduling priorities.
  • Develops and maintains Resource Library. Responsibilities include organizing maintenance and project documentation, and organizing and filing Submittals, O&M Manuals, and As-Builts. Develops and maintains online documentation processes.
  • Initiates and maintains contract documents. Administers outsourced contracted service agreements. Maintains an active list of contracted maintenance services. Generates required documents to procure Outsourced Services.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to identify and address safety concerns while supporting daily operations.
  • Performs work tasks in a safe manner and in accordance with work instructions.
  • Identifies potential safety issues and develops recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field.
  • One (1) year of related work experience.
  • Valid Texas drivers license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in related engineering discipline, accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Three years experience in facility management of similar scope and complexity.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems such CMMS.

Working Conditions

  • Office and outside environment including regular visits to mechanical rooms, roofs, and crawl spaces/tunnels. Required to enter hot, humid, high-elevation levels. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary depending on the departments needs. This job requires driving to all campuses; the employee must drive and meet driving requirements.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Must have the ability to climb ladders, tolerate noise, and use PPE, etc.

This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Must be flexible to travel between UT San Antonio campuses as needed.

This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
