    Summary

    Focus on supplier development in a manufacturing or service process. Works with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans. SQEs must be critical thinkers and active listeners with good time management skills to effectively work with Suppliers, Procurement, Inspection, and Program Management teams to define deliverables, goods and services ready for customer delivery.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions

    Develops, establishes, implements, maintains and assures the effectiveness of Quality Management Systems (AS9100) at the Supplier

    Maintain and analyze Supplier Quality Metrics/Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to include quality performance, correctives actions, notification of escapes, and supplier concessions

    Assist suppliers in the development and implementation of continuous improvement objectives and action plans

    Manage and maintain supplier corrective actions, ensuring suppliers are implementing effective root cause analysis and assist in their training, as applicable

    Interface with customers and suppliers on new product launch and quality improvement activities.

    Assist with maintenance and updates to the Triumph Supply Source Portal

    Assists with flow down requirements and communications to suppliers

    Assists and/or maintains the Supplier Inspection Delegation Approval (SIDA) process

    Quality representative in Transfer of Work (ToW) projects

    Generate technical reports that accurately communicate relevant quality information to the suppliers

    Manages the dispositioning of non-conformance items, discrepant material reports and using Supplier Material Discrepancy Approval Requests (SMDARs) as applicable

    Evaluate supplier process changes

    Perform onsite audits/assessments of new and existing suppliers

    Assist with the evaluation and analysis of quality to verify compliance, monitor performance, and mitigate risks for assigned suppliers

    Interact and communicate with internal departments concerning actions and measures for continual supplier quality improvement.

    Provide monthly reports of supplier interactions and status, including action plans and goals

    Gathers information and presents supplier data as applicable

    Apply statistical knowledge for quality improvement plans, both internally and externally

    Contributes to team effort by maintaining a positive outlook

    Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements.

    Other duties as assigned to ensure customer needs are met.

    Qualifications

    Six Sigma training is preferred

    Working knowledge of SPC

    Experience in interpretation of blueprints/specifications, metrology, and manufacturing process planning/evaluation

    Experience in First Article Inspection Requirements (AS9102)

    Familiarization and/or working knowledge of APQP - AS9145

    Familiarization and/or working knowledge of Delegated Product Release Verification- AS9117

    Familiarization with FAA requirements

    Familiarization with ITAR/EAR/FARS/DFARS

    Supervisory responsibility

    The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Preferred education, certification, and experience

    Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering related field from an accredited university or college preferred but not required.

    Certification in Quality Engineering (CQE) or a Quality Auditor (CQA) desired

    Prior experience in interpretation of blueprints/specifications, metrology, and manufacturing process planning/evaluation

    Working knowledge of GD&T and use of all types of standard inspection measuring equipment, a plus

    4+ years in a manufacturing environment

    Physical demands

    Will require frequent travel to Suppliers

    May require lifting, pulling, and carrying up to fifty (50) pounds

    Frequent bending, climbing stairs, pulling, pushing, and reaching overhead.

    Standing up to eight (8) hours per day, sitting up to eight (8) hours per day, or a combination of sitting and standing.

    Travel

    Up to 40% travel may be required

    Must meet all regulatory requirements.
