Position Overview
The Engineer Software 3 will join the EA-18G software team supporting the Growler Block 1 and Block 2 programs. The engineer will develop and maintain embedded real-time software while working closely with cross-functional engineering teams and customers.
The position will support work performed at the Naval Air Warfare Centre, Point Mugu, as well as the Northrop Grumman Camarillo, CA office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop embedded real-time system software for defence applications.
- Work within an Agile/Scrum environment as part of an integrated software team.
- Analyse and resolve software and system defects.
- Collaborate with customers, internal Northrop Grumman sites, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Participate in peer reviews, critical milestone reviews, and technical interchange meetings.
- Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Use project-specific software development, configuration management, requirements, and collaboration tools.

Basic Qualifications
- BS degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience, or MS degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with a higher-order programming language such as Ada, C/C++, or C#.
- Knowledge of object-oriented software development.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an integrated engineering team.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git, Bitbucket, or ClearCase.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- DoD Secret Clearance or higher is required; Interim Secret is acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Experience with the full software development lifecycle on large-scale formal DoD programs.
- Professional programming experience with Ada.
- Strong C++ programming experience.
- Experience developing real-time embedded software.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Experience with Electronic Warfare (EW) system development and design.
