About our group:

The Advanced Recording Subsystem, or ARS, organization develops key recording technologies that enable disc drive product development and productization. The organization brings together expertise across head and media recording, electrical and mechanical systems, read channel technology, and preamplifier technology.

Within ARS, the Read Channel team focuses on integrating mixed-signal analog and digital ASIC technology into disc drive electronics. The team enables reliable reading and writing of data to magnetic media and implements new read channel capabilities that support product performance, capacity, quality, and time-to-market objectives.

About the role - you will:

• Responsible for HAMR (Head-assisted Magnetic Recording) LFA (Laser field adjust) channel optimization and evaluation for Read channel electronics for hard drives.
• Determining design algorithms and read channel parameters optimization based on test time, areal density and robustness objectives.
• Responsible in conducting integration testing and evaluating results.

About you:

• Knowledge in read channel development, magnetic recording components or communication systems.
• Knowledge of laser assisted magnetic recording will be advantageous
• Knowledge of recording subsystems including heads, media and ReadWrite channel will be advantageous

Your experience includes:

• Knowledge of test equipment such as oscilloscopes.
• Knowledge of programming language C, Matlab, Python is an added advantage.

Location:

The Shugart site (named after Seagate's founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center.
