Job Summary

We are seeking a Product Engineer II – Mechanical Systems to support product design, engineering analysis, testing, and validation for turf care equipment. The role involves developing design solutions to improve product cost, quality, and performance while collaborating with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply management teams.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Analyze engineering assignments and determine specifications for projects of moderate complexity.
Develop and evaluate design solutions to improve cost, quality, and product performance.
Perform engineering calculations, design analysis, and testing activities.
Support prototype development, product verification, and validation.
Prepare engineering documentation, design reports, and technical analyses.
Apply engineering principles to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, marketing, and supply management.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
1–3 years of product engineering or relevant engineering experience.
Experience with CAD systems and engineering tools.
Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
Ability to design and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Understanding of engineering principles and product design.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and drive consensus.
Ability to learn and use workflow and Product Data Management (PDM) systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in Engineering or Business.
Experience with agricultural, turf care, or similar machinery.
Familiarity with John Deere engineering processes, including EPDP, ETDP, or ECAP.
Knowledge of Systems Engineering Methodology.
Systems Engineering certification or relevant coursework.
Experience with Design for Six Sigma and Design for Manufacturing.
Financial analysis knowledge, including cash flow and return calculations.

Ideal Candidate

A mechanically oriented product engineer with hands-on CAD experience, strong GD&T knowledge, and the ability to support product design, engineering calculations, testing, and cross-functional collaboration.
