Job title: Engineer Product II
Duration: 12 Months — Possible Extension/Conversion
Location: Waterloo, IA 50613-8000
Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM–2:30 PM

Position Overview
· Plan, coordinate, and perform product design, testing, and analysis for projects of moderate scope.
· Work within a team environment and contribute to design solutions and reviews.
· Support engineering projects, process improvements, testing, and technical documentation.
· Provide technical guidance and work independently within established guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
· Analyze and improve manufacturing/material processes, systems, machinery, and equipment.
· Develop and execute feasibility tests to validate engineering solutions.
· Develop engineering standards, specifications, and technical documentation.
· Inspect engineering work and recommend corrective actions for quality and compliance.
· Identify process gaps and implement improvements through change-management programs.
· Deliver small- to medium-scale engineering projects within cost, time, and quality targets.
· Analyze data trends and report findings to support engineering decisions.
· Identify, assess, and manage project risks and scope changes.
· Track project progress and support project/program management.
· Maintain knowledge of relevant technology, regulations, and industry best practices.
Engine Development Responsibilities
· Share management of a performance and emissions dyno.
· Define engine test plans, schedule dyno testing, and coordinate with test operators.
· Analyze test results, present findings, and lead technical discussions.
· Calibrate base-engine software features and support new feature development.
· Provide technical guidance to field performance, calibration, applications, and other teams.
· Contribute to engine and aftertreatment hardware development.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in:
o Mechanical Engineering
o Agricultural Engineering
o Systems Engineering
o Electrical Engineering
· 1+ year of experience in:
o Engine development
o Engine control system development
o Engine component/subsystem development
· Strong engineering problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
· Quality-focused and results-oriented approach.
· Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance.
Preferred Qualifications
· 2–3 years: Performance & emissions development for heavy-duty diesel engines.
· Experience with controller development tools.
· 2–3 years: Design of Experiments (DOE), modeling, and optimization.
· 1–2 years: Experience with:
o GT-Power
o National Instruments DIAdem
o MATLAB
o Simulink
o MBC / CAGE toolboxes
· Diesel aftertreatment component experience.
· Master’s degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Systems, or Electrical Engineering.
