Position Summary
The Mississippi Department of Revenue's Office of Information Technology is seeking three experienced Network Infrastructure Engineers to support and modernize the State's enterprise network. These engineers will design, deploy, operate, and troubleshoot data center and campus network environments, including Cisco ACI fabrics, Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA), identity-driven access controls, and network visibility platforms.
This is a hands-on, senior-level role supporting mission-critical services across data centers and statewide operations. The engineers will collaborate with infrastructure, security, and wireless teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure network services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Cisco Nexus platforms operating in ACI mode, including VRFs, Bridge Domains, EPGs/ESGs, L3Outs, contracts, and fabric policies.
- Integrate ACI with virtualization and container platforms, including Red Hat OpenShift VMM and Isovalent/Cilium.
- Configure and optimize RoCEv2 in the ACI fabric for high-performance, low-latency workloads.
- Troubleshoot ACI fabric health, faults, endpoint learning, contracts, and multi-tenant segmentation.
- Deploy and support Cisco Catalyst platforms and Cisco SDA wired and wireless fabrics.
- Manage SDA underlay and overlay networks, policy mapping, authentication integrations, and assurance operations.
- Configure and administer Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), including TACACS+ device administration, authentication and authorization policies, and endpoint profiling.
- Support identity-based segmentation and Zero Trust initiatives across ACI and SDA environments.
- Deploy and operate ThousandEyes, Cisco Cyber Vision, and DNA Spaces-or comparable platforms-for network visibility, OT/IoT asset discovery, location analytics, and performance monitoring.
- Analyze network telemetry and communicate meaningful findings to technical teams and leadership.
- Troubleshoot complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 issues involving VLANs, OSPF, BGP, STP, multicast, QoS, and TCP/IP.
- Design and implement Palo Alto Networks security solutions across enterprise environments.
- Create and maintain network architecture diagrams, standards, runbooks, operational procedures, and asset inventories.
- Contribute to modernization planning, platform upgrades, procurement activities, and statewide technology initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- At least 15 years of experience working with Cisco networking technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco ACI in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of ACI constructs, including VRFs, Bridge Domains, EPGs, ESGs, L3Outs, and contracts.
- Experience integrating ACI with OpenShift VMM and Cilium/Isovalent.
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst platforms and SDA fabric technologies.
- Experience administering Cisco ISE, including TACACS+ and policy-based network access control.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, QoS, and network security.
- Familiarity with ThousandEyes, Cyber Vision, and DNA Spaces, or comparable tools.
- Ability to create clear technical documentation, diagrams, and architecture artifacts.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, including the ability to work in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNP Data Center, CCNP Enterprise, CCIE, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience with container networking and virtualization integrations.
- Familiarity with NIST frameworks and state-level cybersecurity requirements.
- Experience with network automation using Python, Ansible, REST APIs, or similar tools.
- Experience supporting state government or large enterprise networks.
- Palo Alto Networks certifications, such as PCCSA or PCNSA.
