Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary

Homewood Suites by Hilton Montgomery EastChase is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Engineer to ensure the hotel's facilities, guest rooms, public areas, and equipment are maintained to Hilton brand standards. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for guests and team members.

The ideal candidate will have experience in hospitality maintenance, strong technical abilities, and excellent customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities

Perform daily inspections of guest rooms, hallways, lobby areas, fitness center, pool, and hotel grounds

Complete preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, kitchen, and mechanical systems

Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and emergency repair situations

Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, lighting, appliance, and HVAC issues

Maintain swimming pool and fitness equipment to safety and operational standards

Assist with painting, carpentry, drywall, flooring, and general building repairs

Monitor fire safety systems, alarms, emergency lighting, and security equipment

Ensure compliance with Hilton standards, OSHA regulations, and local building codes

Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and inventory of tools and supplies

Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors when necessary

Support energy conservation and sustainability initiatives within the hotel

Qualifications

Preferred Skills

Experience working in Hilton-branded hotels or extended-stay properties

Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems and hotel operations

EPA certification or HVAC certification is a plus

Knowledge of pool maintenance procedures

Physical Requirements

Long hours sometimes required.

Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Ability to stand during entire shift.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces

Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures

Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.

Must be able to work unsupervised. Perform any additional duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned by hotel management to support overall hotel operations and guest satisfaction.

Working Environment

The Maintenance Engineer works throughout the hotel property, including guest rooms, mechanical rooms, pool areas, exterior grounds, and public spaces. The role may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, electrical systems, machinery, and outdoor weather conditions.

High school diploma or GED required

Technical certification or vocational training preferred

Minimum 1-3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in hospitality or facilities maintenance

Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems

Ability to use hand and power tools safely

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and guest service abilities

Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts
