Military Flight Controls Division Supporting aircraft worldwide, Parker Aerospace's Military Flight Controls Division (MFCD) provides primary and secondary flight control systems that make flight possible. SUMMARY:
The Engineering Manager, Legacy Product Support is responsible for leading the engineering support of legacy and aftermarket product lines. This role ensures continued product performance, availability, and airworthiness after initial release by coordinating sustaining engineering activities, resolving technical issues, and supporting product improvements as needed.
In addition, the Engineering Manager oversees engineering engagement with depot partners and internal departments to ensure effective technical support, repair capability, quality performance, and alignment with business and customer requirements. This role serves as a key interface between engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, product management, and external depot partners to sustain product reliability and support long-term aftermarket success
In this role, the Engineering Manager is responsible to lead, manage, and provide technical direction to engineering teams including multiple sub-teams and/or significant contracted external engineering resources. This individual leads the technical effort, defines engineering plans, and ensures project objectives and contractual requirements or customer expectations are met, including required scope, cost and schedule constraints.
SCOPE/SUPERVISION AND INTERACTION:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Leads the technical effort and defines engineering plans and expected outcomes for a major engineering team.
Develops plans for multiple projects and determine team and resource allocation by reviewing technical proposals, internal and subcontract capabilities, and conferring with management.
Manages the deployment of resources among teams and for engineers assigned to various projects.
May act as a Control Account Manager (CAM) for projects applying Earned Value Management (EVM).
Provides leadership and direction for Material Review and Repair activities.
Leads the team and expert staff in interpreting technical requirements, managing associated risk, and completing technical studies and design reviews.
Serves as a technical liaison with program management and customer technical representatives to present status and/or refine project plans; assess and make technical determinations on changes in customer requirements (e.g. design specifications; change impact on cost/schedule).
Ensures teams are implementing and achieving process improvement and design standardization objectives (e.g. structured design process).
Maintains consistent engineering practices, standards, and documentation procedures and reporting capabilities.
Takes appropriate steps to protect and safeguard Parker intellectual property.
The Engineering Manager is accountable for full budget planning and non-recurring and recurring cost and schedule management that may involve multiple facilities.
Provides input to leadership on long-range plans to meet both current and anticipated growth and resource challenges (e.g. workforce planning; new technical systems investments).
Makes recommendations and decisions on human resources actions (e.g. staffing, training, compensation, etc.); discusses exceptional cases with the next level manager.
Communicates and implements actions to ensure Parker values and company policies are well understood and maintained (e.g. business ethics; integrity; inclusion).
Identifies and creates technical training and development plans.
Mentors or serves as a resource to share specialized knowledge with others.
Maintains leadership and technical capabilities through continued education or training.
