    Must have:
    Understanding of calendaring machines used with foil, paper, and steel.
    Experience in laser cutting and laser welding for foil and metal sheets.
    Basic knowledge of battery systems.
    Hands-on experience in assembly operations is mandatory.
    Exposure to manufacturing or production environments is required.
    Fresh graduates will not be considered and candidates from unrelated industries are excluded.
    Ideal Profiles:
    Experience in calendaring processes.
    Hands-on expertise in laser cutting and/or laser welding.
    Good Profiles:
    Experience with battery electrode processes.
    Acceptable Profiles:
    Over 10 years of manufacturing experience.
    Experience with calendaring or rolling machines.

    What we re looking for:
    *** Motor North America s Battery Manufacturing Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Contract Engineer for our Implementation Group.
    This position's main responsibility is production preparation and new model launch of EV battery manufacturing equipment.
    This position is located at TBMNC in Liberty, North Carolina, and reports to an Engineering Manager in the Implementation Group.
    What you ll be doing
    Leading the procurement, validation, installation, pre-productions trials and launch of EV battery manufacturing equipment.
    Creating and maintaining detailed schedules and budgetary control for assigned area
    Creating battery manufacturing process plans and machine specifications incorporating knowledge of *** Production System, *** and industry standards, and continuous improvement.
    Applying knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and civil design and applicable standards to create engineering criteria and design feedback pertaining to appropriate sizing, routing, materials selection, component selection, installation, and other design choices relating to such systems.
    Creating explanatory documents and drawings for clear understanding of job scope, execution plan, progress, top issues, and option analysis by all stakeholders including machine vendors, general contractors, service providers, owner groups, and all levels of management.
    Collaborating across functional, company, and international boundaries to drive progress and achieve project goals.
    Planning and monitoring installation of battery manufacturing equipment, identifying field issues, and working closely with construction coordinators and machine builders to countermeasure.
    Contributing to the zero incidents is possible safety culture by exemplifying safe work behaviors, complying with *** construction safety requirements, and correcting unsafe conditions without fail.
    Demonstrating quality-first leadership through planning and coordination of pre-production and mass production trials at machine vendors and at the installation site.
    Directly supporting the success and development of fellow team members through direct mentorship and authorship of technical standards and work instructions.
    Participating in a mentor program to grow as an engineer and learn from others.

    Requirements:
    Qualifications/ What you bring (Must Haves):
    Bachelor s Degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field with 5+ years of equivalent work experience in an engineering role
    Experience with production preparation of Battery, Electronics or Chemical manufacturing equipment, including procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials and launch (3 years Required, 5 years Preferred)
    Experience creating process plans and machine specifications using lean manufacturing principles.
    Experience leading capital projects, including creating and maintaining detailed schedules, budgetary control, and KPI-based progress reporting (3 years Required, 5 years Preferred).
    Experience with AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo or similar, including the ability to read and interpret and modify 2D and 3D technical drawings.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint. (intermediate or above)
    Ability to business travel, both domestic and international, up to 25%.
    Ability to work weekends and shutdowns such as July and December.
    Bonus if you have (Preferred):
    Advanced Engineering degree, higher than Bachelor s.
    *** Production Engineering experience, NAMC and/or TMNA.
    Experience directing structured trials of manufacturing equipment to assess and achieve compliance with design, performance, and product quality criteria.
    Experience with battery manufacturing, such as electrochemistry, slot die coating, roll-to-roll processing, laser cutting equipment, vision inspection systems.
    Experience with industrial controls and/or industrial networks, PLC logic programming, Mitsubishi and/or Omron PLCs, MES systems, including experience investigating and troubleshooting issues.
    TBP completion through Panel.
    Japanese language ability.
