Role & Responsibilities
We are seeking a Nuclear Instrumentation Engineer II for a radiation-detection manufacturer which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in mechanical or electrical design looking to further their career in nuclear power and defense instrumentation.
- Prepare and verify specifications for materials, parts, machining, welding, and brazing
- Author technical and test reports for Class 1E and seismic qualification (IEEE 323/344)
- Support LOCA, seismic, environmental, and radiation-life qualification testing
- Partner with Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality on sourcing and process improvements
- Assist senior engineers with new product development and materials selection
Essential Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering experience in mechanical design (GD&T), electrical testing, and technical writing
- Knowledge of extreme-environment engineering and qualification testing; Microsoft Office
- B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Electrical, Ceramic, or Nuclear preferred)
Bonus Qualifications
- Familiarity with IEEE 323/344, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, Part 21, or ASME NQA-1
- Experience with mineral-insulated cables, ceramic-to-metal seals, or brazed assemblies
- Commercial nuclear, naval reactor, aerospace, or defense industry background
