Overview:

We have an exciting career opportunity for an Engineer III to join our team!

The successful candidate will be aSenior-level engineer. Under general direction, independently applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts, and judgment to complex engineering problems associated with Thermal utility production and distribution systems. Responsible for engineering analysis, design, project development, and implementation for significant or multiple projects involving steam generation, chilled water production, plant equipment, piping systems, and associated infrastructure. Provides technical guidance to engineering staff, operations, maintenance, contractors, and consultants and may provide technical leadership over multidisciplinary project teams.

Minimum Salary: $85,800 (Grade 10)

 

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in developing, maintaining, and updating Thermal engineering standards, specifications, design practices, and technical procedures. Provides technical guidance regarding projects, equipment, systems, and assigned engineering disciplines.
  • Applies knowledge of and complies with the Citizens Quality Program and applicable safety, environmental, regulatory, and engineering requirements. May be responsible for ensuring project compliance and provides related guidance and direction to others. Supports continuous improvement, reliability, and change management efforts.
  • Prepares complex engineering deliverables for significant or multiple Thermal projects. Performs complex engineering studies and develops recommendations for equipment, materials, system configuration, and infrastructure improvements. Performs and reviews complex engineering calculations, equipment sizing and selection, system evaluations, and technical analyses. Independently selects and applies advanced engineering techniques, analysis methods, codes, standards, and sound engineering judgment to solve complex problems involving steam generation, chilled water production, distribution systems, mechanical equipment, piping, and other Thermal utility systems. Develops engineering scopes, specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and technical requirements and provides engineering support through design, procurement, construction, startup, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Actively coordinates with Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, Safety, Purchasing, Construction, contractors, consultants, equipment manufacturers, and other internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.
  • Identifies operational, reliability, maintainability, safety, and business requirements affecting Thermal projects. Develops engineering approaches that address stakeholder needs while balancing technical requirements, cost, schedule, system reliability, and operational constraints. Provides technical support for troubleshooting, failure analysis, and development of corrective actions.
  • Manages assigned project scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Identifies project risks and develops appropriate mitigation strategies. Provides technical direction to consultants, contractors, vendors, and other project participants and monitors engineering and construction activities for conformance with project requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program or a recognized accredited program in their home country, or sufficient education acceptable by management.
  • 5 years of related experience or 4 years of Citizens experience.
  • Valid driver's license in the United States, or alternate approved by management. State of Indiana driver's license required within 30 days of first day of employment.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications                        

  • Indiana E.I.T. or Professional Engineer license or other recognized engineering or project management certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design, construction, and applicable codes, guides, and standards related to assigned engineering discipline. Advanced ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, vendor submittals, and other technical deliverables.
  • Experience with steam generation and distribution systems, chilled water production and distribution systems, industrial piping, pumps, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, boilers, water treatment systems, rotating equipment, controls, or other heavy industrial utility systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Oracle or other enterprise databases, AutoCAD or other appropriate design applications. Detailed understanding of utility systems and infrastructure projects at Citizens. Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Experience managing engineering consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, construction activities, capital project budgets, schedules, startup, and commissioning.
