UCT is looking for a talented Engineer III to join us in Hayward, CA!
The Manufacturing Engineer III leads the development of manufacturing documentation, process workflows, and system builds to support high-technology production environments. This role ensures product quality, operational efficiency, and compliance by coordinating cross-functional efforts, conducting technical reviews, and driving continuous improvement. The engineer interfaces with customers and vendors, manages engineering changes, and supports cost estimation and capital planning to deliver reliable, scalable manufacturing solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and revise manufacturing documentation including Sequence of Events (SOEs) and assembly process workflows using engineering prints and bills of materials.
- Provide technical direction and hands-on training to production staff.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering support for system builds.
- Prepare and update work instructions, BOM structures, and training materials.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and coordination across project teams.
- Participate in customer and vendor meetings to support technical discussions and project alignment.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure systems meet design, safety, and operational standards.
- Investigate and resolve internal and customer-reported issues, recommending corrective actions.
- Support cost estimation and capital project planning for new equipment and major repairs.
- Evaluate and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Perform system inspections and partner with quality teams to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles; Six Sigma Greenbelt preferred.
- Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment and engineer-to-order environments.
- Experience with electronic work instruction software (e.g., Sequence).
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing documentation tools.
- Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Proven ability to lead small teams and drive project success.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Professional demeanor with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in high-technology manufacturing environments.
Educational/Certification Requirement:
- Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Manufacturing, or related field preferred with 2 years of experience in related manufacturing/ production position; or
- Associate of Arts (AA) in a technical field with more than 5 years of manufacturing experience.
Work Experience:
- 5+ years related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $89,900.00 and $143,900.00/ year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including variable pay and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO (Paid Time Off) and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
