As the Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation maintenance service and repair of equipment. This person will complete maintenance requests and work orders from all departments on a timely basis. Assist in the repair, maintenance, upkeep, and replacement of the property's cosmetic materials (interior/exterior painting, patching of woodwork and furniture refinishing), in accordance with hotel standards. And will also assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Adhere to L’Ermitage guidelines to ensure the health, safety and comfort of our team members and guests.
  • Respond to guest calls as requested using maintenance work order application. Prioritize and respond to these tasks in a timely manner. Update work order status using the assigned application.
  • Professionally speak with guests as needed to update status of work repair in guest rooms.
  • Display solid knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, patching walls, painting, wall vinyl replacement, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
  • Work closely with housekeeping and guest services to ensure guest satisfaction of facilities functions in guest rooms, public areas, and exterior areas of the properties.
  • Ensure guest rooms, restaurant, and public areas are maintained to company standard. Inspect all areas during walk throughs to report task list items to leadership.
  • Use independent judgement and self-motivation to visually survey and clean public spaces and exterior spaces at the property. This includes changing of light bulbs, trash removal, parking area maintenance, and general clean-up of outdoor and entry spaces.
  • Perform pool maintenance and cleaning.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks on property’s systems/functions. Clean HVAC units, complete filter changes, check pressure gauges and temperatures, etc.
  • Ensure maintenance areas and tool storage are kept tidy and safe at all times. Report unsafe work areas to leadership.
  • Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and shut-offs for buildings.
  • Display ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings, property walks, and communicating with guests.
  • Be aware of and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements as well as city, state and/or federal code. Escalate any code concerns to leadership.
  • Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Display working knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices that interact with such programs.
  • Have a thorough understanding of fire alarm procedures, emergency evacuation procedures and all safety related issues.
  • Maintain safe and clear exterior walking areas including landscaping, waste removal, and seasonal management.
  • Attend departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Demonstrate a team-focused attitude and encourage collaboration.
  • Understand and use safe work practices for all safety precautions including Emergency Evacuation Procedures, Violence in the Workplace, Accident Reporting, OSHA Compliance, and Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued including time and attendance expectations, uniform and dress code standards, anti-harassment policy, and substances in the workplace.
  • Complete additional projects and daily tasks as assigned by leadership.

 WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work will primarily take place in a hotel and restaurant environment, in both guest-facing over the phone and employee back of house areas.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Experience: 1-2 years of engineering support experience in hospitality is preferred.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, stoop, twist, push, pull, and use power and hand tools.
  • The employee must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.  
  • Expresses sincere enthusiasm for the role and passion for property maintenance   
  • Must know how to prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion. Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.
  • Successful completion of satisfactory background check.
  • Flexible schedule - Willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
