Job Summary

There is one position to be filled at the position title and level commensurate with the candidates knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. The Assoc/Mid/Sr Engineer or Engineering Technical Specialist I/II/III, located at our Millstone Power Station in Connecticut, will provide strong technical expertise and project leadership as a Control Operations Electrical Coordinator (COEL).

Job Activities will include:

  • Proficiently performs assignments having the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience needed to carry out all aspects of the job
  • Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing, and conducting work assignments
  • May receive instructions and guidance on unusual or complex problems and knows when to get others involved
  • Effectively utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments
  • Identifies and eliminates unnecessary work and non-value-added activities
  • Review and coordinate work associated with Power Delivery in support of Millstone Power Station and Millstone 15G Substation.
  • Attend all necessary daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed meetings associated with online and outage work coordination.
  • Represent Millstones interest in all Eversource work impacting Millstone Power Station.
  • Review all COEL related work and ensure it does not cause any undo contingencies or reliability issues, both at the power station and on the electric grid.
  • Support development of Risk Plans associated with COEL or Eversource work impacting Millstone Power Station.
  • Submit Eversource forms or requests for outages, tagging and/or other outage related paperwork.
  • Additional responsibilities include support for nuclear CRs, LEEs, HURBs and other nuclear processes in which ET is involved.
  • Provide backup support for the Principal Engineer and COEL Supervisor during refuel outages and other times as necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

  • Associate Engineer/Engineering Technical Specialist I = 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Engineer/Engineering Technical Specialist II = 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Sr. Engineer/Engineering Technical Specialist III= 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives
  • Planning, organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills
  • Effective decision making skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
  • Equally effective working independently or in a team environment
  • Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles
  • Proficient at analyzing all aspects of three-phase AC power flow
  • Knowledge of substation equipment and operations preferred

Education Requirements

Required Degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):

Bachelor's In Engineering

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

  • Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
  • Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the countrys own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the countrys accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
  • Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
  • Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

For placement of a candidate in the Engineering Technical Specialist job series, the following criteria must be met:

  • 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
  • 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or
  • 4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Note: Dominion Energy minimum experience and education requirements may exceed stated ANSI standards and candidates must meet the Dominion Energy minimum requirements.

For Nuclear employees, this ANSI standard must be met, all of which is met or exceeded in the Engineer series job summaries with the exception of the Nuclear Power experience requirement of at least 1 year:

ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.6.1 Education requirements: Baccalaureate or associate degree in engineering or related science. Minimum experience for the position: Related experience which shall include 2 years; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 year.
