POSITION TITLE: Engineer-Application

DEPARTMENT: GTO-IMED-EDR-Core Data Platform

• POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
• Expert level hands-on data engineering with Databricks (Azure preferred), Pyspark, lakehouse and SQL
• Strong experience or working knowledge of data modeling, including knowledge of dimensional modeling and name value pair
• Strong working knowledge of medallion architecture
• Experience using or configuring Databricks features including Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, and Delta Sharing
• Minimum of 5 years' programming experience which includes a minimum of one year working with big data platform, experience in data engineering domain, Python, SQL, and cloud platforms
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with relevant continuing education preferred
• Ability to elicit requirements and collaborate with senior team members as part of solution design
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools required
• Knowledge of data visualization tools and BI platforms preferred

MAJOR DUTIES:

This position is a senior technical leadership position as a member of the Enterprise Data Team under the Global Technology Organization. In this role, you will be hands on technical lead, leading the design, development, implementation and optimization of data solutions on the Databricks platform. The position does not include direct HR management, but does require technical leadership, mentoring, supporting and leading the establishment of standards for all of the team's data platform work.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines on Databricks
• Provide architectural, design and technical guidance to more junior team members
• Drive best practices in data engineering across the team
• Design and build improvements to the existing metadata driven ingestion framework
• Use generative AI platforms and agents like Claude Enterprise to automate and improve data pipeline creation and maintenance
• Write clean, efficient and maintainable PySpark or SQL code for data pipelines
• Design robust data models for analytics and reporting
• Design and implement batch and streaming data workflows
• Monitor and optimize performance of Spark jobs and cluster usage
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security and data privacy standards
