This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- The Engineer 1 position requires 0-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelors degree.
- Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power related systems.
- Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications.
- Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages.
- Creating a safe work environment by putting safety first, understand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance
- Understanding the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance,
- Understanding design practices and work processes
- Using all software applications used in design
- Understanding industry and Southern Company design standards,
- Supporting design standard and criteria development for the system
- Supporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations
- Estimating material for projects
- Transmitting construction packages and supporting specifications.

- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
- Candidate must have previous experience with walking down and marking up mechanical prints.
- Candidate must have experience with doing CAD work for mechanical P&IDs.
- Must be local or willing to relocate at own expense.
- This assignment is 50% field work and 50% CAD work and includes working on site at a Power Plant and outside in hot/cold weather.
