    SUMMARY: The Energy Services Outreach Worker performs a variety of customer service, intake, eligibility determination, and referral functions for individuals and families seeking assistance through the Low-Income Home energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and other agency programs. The Energy Services Outreach Worker is responsible for conducting client interviews, receiving and verifying documentation, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with program guidelines while providing quality customer service.  
      
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  
    Familiarize yourself with all agency programs, services, and modes of operation with particular emphasis on LIHEAP and related energy program guidelines.
    Familiarize yourself with available community resources and maintaining positive working relationships with partner agencies to coordinate services for customers.
    Conduct client intake appointments, assess customer needs, and determine eligibility for LIHEAP and other available services.  
    Maintain a minimum productivity standard of three (3) completed intake appointments per hour while ensuring accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with program requirements.
    Review, collect, and verify required applicant documentation, including income, residency, household composition, utility information, and other eligibility requirements.
    Create, organize, file, scan, and maintain complete and accurate client files in accordance with agency policies, funding requirements, and confidentiality standards.
    Follow-up promptly with customers regarding missing documentation, application status, referrals, or additional program requirements.
    Provide customers with information regarding available services and community resources; make referrals and coordinate services as appropriate.
    Assist customers with referrals to employment, education, training, and other supportive services as needed.
    Attend program, agency, and outside meetings and training sessions as requested.
    Be willing to travel as necessary.
      
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.  
      
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:  
    Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.    
    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word for documentation preparation and correspondence, Excel for data entry, tracking, and basic reporting, and Outlook for email communication, scheduling, and calendar management.
    Write routine reports and correspondence.    
    Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.  Must have good verbal and written communication skills.  
    Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.    
    Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.  
    Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.   
    Deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.     
    Must be able to work independently and can apply social work principles to real-life situations.  
      
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  
    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1 year of related experience and/or training or a combination of education and experience.   
    Must have completed a recognized Family and Community Development Certification process or have equivalent academic coursework.    
    Experience with advanced outreach, case management, and/or family development is desired.  
    May be required to drive.  Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.  
      
      
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the  
    employee is regularly required to talk and listen.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds as it relates to the office environment.  The noise level is quiet, and the type normally associated with the office environment.
