    What to Expect

The Field Quality team's mission is to improve customer experience of Tesla products by reducing field issues. The role is responsible for products such as Powerwall,Megapack and Supercharger and works cross functionally with other engineering and service teams. We are seeking a multi-faceted engineer who will be responsible for all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing, implementing countermeasures, and reporting on issues affecting products. To be effective, the Field Quality engineer will need to be intimately familiar with the detailed behavior of our Energy Products and the tools and equipment used in their design and manufacture. They will work with other engineering teams to quickly mitigate and implement countermeasures of field issues to improve quality, reliability, and durability of the products.

    • Triage emerging trends and use engineering first principles to come up with failure hypothesis
    • Coordinate efforts with the Failure Analysis team to identify root-causes of problems
    • Conduct hands-on field investigations at customer sites - inspect failed hardware, collect data, and validate failure hypotheses on-site
    • Collaborate with engineering, factory quality, design and suppliers to drive containment and corrective action implementation into production
    • Communicate field performance of the engineering system, gather buy-in from engineering leadership on improvement priorities and urgency
    • Share Lessons Learned from previous field issues and provide upfront feedback by participating in design and process reviews to ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability issues are identified and risks mitigated (DFMEAs/PFMEAs) in both legacy and future products
    • Take part in ongoing optimization of the products and processes (performance, cost, technology, warranty accrual)
    • ·Analyze field data (telemetry, service records, hardware reporting) to identify failure trends, validate hypotheses, and measure corrective action effectiveness
    • What Youll Bring
