EMS Medical Director - Duke University Hospital ED Paramedic Program

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time faculty physician to join our academic emergency medicine team at Duke University Hospital (DUH). Ideal candidates will have an MD or equivalent medical degree and will be board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine. Appointment will be determined at a rank commensurate with training and experience.  This position offers the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity, complex-care academic environment while building a career in clinical care, medical education, and scholarship.

Duke University Hospital is recruiting for an Emergency Medical Services physician – regular rank faculty Emergency Medicine Physician to serve as medical director for the Duke University Hospital Emergency Department Paramedic program. Candidates must have completed an Emergency Medicine residency, an ACGME EMS fellowship and be board certified/board eligible in EMS. Candidates must also have a demonstrated interest in being part of a teaching and learning community.

Duke University Hospital Emergency Department Medical Director responsibilities include:

• Oversight of paramedic workflow and scope in the emergency department
• Collaborating with ED medical director and nursing leadership on operational planning involving ED paramedics
• Oversight of ED paramedic continuing education materials
• Strategic planning of ED and hospital paramedic programs throughout the health system

Duke University Hospital Emergency Department EMS Physician responsibilities include:

• Providing clinical and didactic education to residents and medical students.
• Providing support for EMS section activities.

Additional opportunities will include involvement and mentorship in disaster medicine and emergency preparedness, prehospital and emergency medicine research as well as Global Health opportunities with partners across the globe.
