    Position Summary:

    The employment specialist provides case management, job-driven training, and employment services to veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness enrolled in the Jobs for Vets Gulf Coast HVRP program in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. This position works directly with participants to assess barriers to employment, develop Individualized Employment Plans, and connect veterans with employers and training opportunities in high-demand industries.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Conduct intakes and comprehensive needs assessments to determine participants' abilities, interests, needs, and barriers to employment.
    • Develop Individualized Employment Plans (IEPs) with each participant, including career goals, necessary training and services, and clear action steps.
    • Provide soft-skills employment training, including resume development, interview preparation, workplace communication, and digital and financial literacy.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with employers to support job placement, on-the-job training, apprenticeships, and job shadowing opportunities.
    • Provide individualized supportive services to participants, including referrals to housing, health care, and other community resources.
    • Provide ongoing employment adjustment and retention services during participants' first months of employment, including regular check-ins to address workplace challenges.
    • Track participants who have completed the program and collect follow-up data for up to 12 months after exit, in coordination with the VOPAR case management system.
    • Document all services in a timely, complete, and clinically appropriate manner.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the program manager or executive team.

    Position Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, Public Health, or a related field preferred.

    At least two years of experience working with homeless or at-risk individuals, preferably in HVRP or similar employment programs.

    An affirmative effort will be made to recruit a candidate who is a veteran.

    Strong case management and organizational skills; self-motivated.

    Excellent teamwork skills and ability to build relationships with employers and community partners.

    Excellent problem-solving capabilities.

    Good driving record; willingness to drive personal vehicle to meet with participants and employers; motor vehicle report required.

    Travel:

    This position requires local travel throughout Mobile and Baldwin Counties to meet with participants and employers.

    Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation.

    Mileage reimbursement for personal use of the vehicle is included.

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm; occasional weekends and evenings
