The position is within the Law Department's Global Litigation group, which manages commercial and employment litigation, including class actions. The primary duties of this role include managing complex litigation and arbitrations in all areas of employment, as well as collaborating with legal partners to provide advice and counsel to the business with respect to emerging legal issues and risks.Key Responsibilities Managing lawsuits, arbitrations, and other legal disputes, including overseeing outside counsel in defense of such mattersInterviewing and retaining law firms/outside counsel, including managing budgetsReviewing and developing appropriate strategies for assigned mattersReviewing and revising pleadings, motions and significant case filingsServing as a strategic legal partner to other legal and business partners, providing reports on substantive developments in legal matters, as well as advice and counsel on risk mitigation strategies and legal compliance regarding a wide range of contingent worker and employment laws including worker classification, joint employment, wage and hour, ADA, ADEA, ERISA, FMLA, FLSA, and Title VIIDeveloping strategy for, and participating in mediations/settlement conferencesPreparing/reviewing settlement agreementsAnalyzing and responding to agency chargesInternally overseeing discovery process, including reviewing discovery requests and developing strategy and responses, collecting and assisting with production of internal documents, coordinating e-discovery, and interviewing information custodians and/or fact witnessesAssisting with preparing fact, corporate and expert witnesses for depositions, arbitrations and trials, and attending depositions, as appropriateAttending court appearances, as appropriate, including significant hearings, trials, mediations, and settlement conferencesActively participating in cross-functional teams to assess business practices and procedures and proactively counsel on emerging issues and legal/litigation risksPreparing and presenting various internal and external reports on significant litigation and legal issuesOther duties as assignedEducation J.D. from an accredited institution and active state bar license in good standingSkills and Experience: Ideal candidate will have 7+ years of hands-on employment and/or contract litigation experience, including trials.ERISA, worker classification, and general commercial litigation a plusMotivated self-starter with legal acumen and business knowledgeCollaborative team playerAbility to communicate views effectively, verbally and in writing, and represent position to internal and external stakeholders, including senior level executivesAbility to create pragmatic and balanced solutionsLeadership experience with assignments and cross functional projectsDisplays advanced knowledge of specific legal discipline to connect work back to strategic business objectivesAbility to determine extent of other AOR (area of responsibility) involvement, and understand integration points and play a lead role with other areas of responsibilitySupervisory Responsibilities This job does not have supervisory duties.Compensation Compensation offered for this role is $104,000.00 - 187,625.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.Joining our team isn't just a job — it's an opportunity.
