Associate Attorney - Employment Litigation (3-7+ Years)
La Jolla, CA (On-Site) or Pasadena, CA (Hybrid: 1 Day Remote)
Compensation: $140,000 - $225,000 DOE
Billable Requirement: 1,850 Hours
Bonus: Monthly bonus program based on billable hours

About the Opportunity
A respected California-based employment law practice is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its growing Employment Litigation team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney who enjoys handling sophisticated employment matters, working directly with clients, and taking ownership of cases from inception through resolution.
The ideal candidate will have strong employment litigation experience, excellent advocacy skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Defend employers in single-plaintiff employment litigation matters involving:
- Harassment
- Discrimination
- Retaliation
- Wrongful termination
- Related workplace claims
- Represent employers before the:
- California Civil Rights Department (CRD)
- Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
- California Labor Commissioner
- Provide day-to-day employment law counseling and advice to clients
- Draft and respond to written discovery
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Handle all aspects of law and motion practice, including:
- Dispositive motions
- Motions to compel arbitration
- Discovery motions
- Develop litigation strategy and prepare case evaluations
- Manage an independent caseload and proactively drive cases toward resolution
- Draft mediation briefs and represent clients at mediations
- Attend hearings, status conferences, and argue motions
- Participate in arbitrations and trials
Qualifications
Required
- Active California Bar license
- 3-7+ years of employment litigation experience
- Experience representing employers in employment disputes
- Experience handling administrative charges and employment-related litigation
- Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters independently
- Exceptional client service and relationship management skills
Preferred
- Arbitration experience
- Trial experience
- Experience managing cases from intake through resolution with minimal supervision
