Overview
Our law firm client is seeking an Employment Litigation Associate to join its well-established Labor & Employment Practice Group in Richmond, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with at least three years of employment litigation experience who is looking to build a long-term career with a collaborative and highly respected firm.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working closely with public and private employers, providing practical legal counsel on workplace issues while handling all phases of employment litigation. This role offers meaningful courtroom experience, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to become a trusted advisor to employers across a variety of industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent employers in employment-related litigation in state and federal courts.
- Defend employers before administrative agencies, including employment-related proceedings.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.
- Advise employers on employment law compliance, workplace policies, and personnel matters.
- Conduct legal research and prepare written legal analyses.
- Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
- Counsel clients on litigation strategy, risk management, and employment best practices.
- Collaborate with attorneys across the Labor & Employment Practice Group to deliver exceptional client service.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to business development initiatives.
Requirements
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active Virginia Bar admission required.
- Minimum of 3 years of labor and employment law experience, including litigation.
- Experience representing employers in employment disputes preferred.
- Strong legal writing, analytical, advocacy, and client counseling skills.
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and employment-related legal documents.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in developing client relationships and growing a practice.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
