The Employer Relations Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for the Job Locator and Development (JLD) program under U.S. Department of Education guidelines while cultivating and maintaining employer relationships to support part-time employment, internship, full-time entry-level employment, and experiential learning opportunities for Tarleton State University students across all university locations.

The Coordinator oversees the university student employment system and serves as the technical expert to maximize employer engagement, system utilization, and job posting integrity. This position focuses on employer outreach, employer support, recruitment-related coordination, and collaboration with campus and community stakeholders to strengthen employment connections between employers and Tarleton State University.

This is an in-office position located in Stephenville, Texas and requires regular engagement with employers, faculty, staff, students, and community partners both ON and OFF campus and may often require off campus visits to employers. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM or as work requirements indicate, with occasional evenings, weekends, and travel required during peak engagement periods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

20% Campus Liaison

• Maintain a strong working knowledge of Tarleton majors, degree programs, and workforce initiatives to effectively connect employer hiring needs with student talent pipelines.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support employer engagement efforts and increase internship, full-time entry-level, and part-time employment opportunities for students.
• Manage efforts to increase utilization of the university student employment system to maximize employer participation and visibility of internships, full-time roles, and part-time employment opportunities.
• Serve as a liaison between employers and university stakeholders to support experiential learning and workforce development initiatives.
• Coordinate with other team members who share JLD responsibilities to ensure effective service delivery to employers and students.
• Utilize university-owned databases and reporting systems to provide employment and engagement trends to university leadership as needed.

60% Community Outreach

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with employers to support recruitment activity, including part-time employment, internships, full-time entry-level hiring, and experiential learning opportunities for students across all university locations.
• Represent Career Center at university, community, and employer networking events, employer site visits, conferences, and hosted campus recruitment activities to strengthen employer engagement and promote Tarleton talent.
•  Coordinate with employer partners and Career Center staff to organize, promote, and support career fairs, recruitment events, and employer engagement initiatives.
• Participate actively in local, state, regional, and national organizations including Chambers of Commerce, Societies for Human Resource Management (SHRM), NACE, alumni chapters, MAC3, and related workforce and economic development organizations.
• Assist employers with recruiting processes, internship program development, and implementation of best practices related to internship and experiential learning programs, including Department of Labor guidelines and NACE recruiting standards.
• Oversee the university student employment system to provide employer support, communicate platform processes and best practices, and maintain the integrity of job postings while monitoring for fraudulent activity.
• Serve as the departmental subject matter expert for the university career management platform and related employer engagement technologies by providing guidance, troubleshooting, and process support for employers and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate with the Assistant Director to support employer engagement initiatives, recruitment activities, promotional efforts, and career fair operations.
• Work collaboratively with the Texas Workforce Commission, chambers of commerce, and regional and state economic development partners to strengthen relationships between employers and the university.
• Coordinate employer communication, registration support, and logistical processes related to career fairs and recruitment events.
• Track and maintain records related to employer engagement activity, internship development, recruitment participation, and employment outcomes to support departmental assessment and reporting initiatives.

15% Leadership/Administrative/Support

• Attend administrative staff meetings, conferences, workshops, and professional development opportunities related to employer relations, workforce development, and university recruitment initiatives as funding permits.
• Assist the Director and other team members with special projects and departmental initiatives.
• Compile and report data related to employer engagement, newly created internships, full-time employment opportunities, and part-time employment opportunities in accordance with Department of Education Federal Work Study Job Locator and Development program requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to employer outreach, engagement activity, and recruitment outcomes.

5% Other

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
• Three years of work experience in a related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated exceptional organizational, written communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with employers, community partners, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
• Exhibits a motivated and enthusiastic work style with the ability to exercise independent judgment, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to work some non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and travel during peak engagement periods.
• Ability to travel for employer site visits, conferences, and other engagement-related activities as needed.
• Knowledge of recruiting practices, employer engagement strategies, workforce development initiatives, and career services technologies preferred.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Master’s degree.
• Five or more years of experience in employer relations, workforce development, university recruiting, talent acquisition, or higher education career services.
• Three years of experience in corporate/industry recruiting, university Career Services, workforce development, or a comparable setting.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Salary Range:

The target base annual salary range is $47,000 up to $61,940.50 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
