Employee Relations Specialist
Remote- Utah only
4 month contract
Pay Rate: $20.00 - $25.00per hr.

We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist / HR Consultant to provide temporary support during a team member's maternity leave. This role will partner with managers across the United States to provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, coaching, documentation, and other HR-related matters. This is a hands-on consulting opportunity focused on helping managers effectively and consistently address employee performance and workplace concerns. Workload may vary based on business needs, so flexibility and availability during standard business hours are important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers to address employee relations and performance management concerns.
  • Coach managers through difficult employee conversations, including setting expectations and delivering constructive feedback.
  • Develop and support Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and other performance-management processes.
  • Guide managers on appropriate documentation related to performance discussions, corrective actions, and employee relations matters.
  • Help managers navigate employee underperformance, accountability, workplace concerns, and corrective actions fairly and consistently.
  • Provide guidance on employee complaints and assist with workplace investigations when needed.
  • Apply broad HR knowledge to support day-to-day employee relations needs.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential employee information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in HR, employee relations, performance management, or a related field.
  • Strong experience handling employee relations matters and advising managers on performance concerns.
  • Hands-on experience creating and managing PIPs, documenting performance issues, and supporting corrective-action processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach leaders through sensitive and challenging employee situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver difficult messages professionally and empathetically.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, organization, and documentation skills.
  • HR generalist experience preferred.
  • Experience within the technology industry is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience conducting or supporting employee complaint investigations is helpful but not required.
