Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Talent Management and Employee Relations, the Employee Relations Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for employee relations inquiries and provides responsive support to employees and supervisors. This position conducts the initial intake of employee concerns and workplace complaints, gathers relevant information, and ensures matters are documented and routed appropriately for review and resolution.
The Employee Relations coordinator provides general guidance on Human Resources policies, procedures, and employment practices, helping employees and managers understand available resources and applicable institutional policies while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. The role responds to routine employee relations inquiries, assists in interpreting policies, and refers complex or sensitive matters to Employee Relations leadership as appropriate.
Position Duties
- Serve as the initial point of contact for employee relations inquiries and workplace concerns.
- Conduct intake interviews for employee complaints, concerns, and requests for assistance, documenting information accurately and maintaining confidentiality.
- Provide general guidance to employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment practices in accordance with institutional policies and applicable laws.
- Oversee the off-boarding process to include separation letters, exit surveys and interviews, turnover metrics and reporting.
- Triage employee relations matters and escalate complex or high-risk issues to the appropriate HR staff.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of employee relations cases and related documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of correspondence, reports, and case files.
- Support conflict resolution efforts by coordinating meetings, gathering documentation, and following up on action items as directed.
- Respond to routine inquiries regarding workplace policies, performance concerns, attendance, leave, and other employment-related matters.
- Provide support for employee engagement events and professional development workshops on campus. Partner with the employee engagement team and provide administrative support as needed.
- Partner with HR colleagues and campus departments to ensure consistent application of policies and timely resolution of employee concerns.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of employee relations processes, resources, and communications.
- Support employee relations and engagement and labor relations with departmental administrative functions as needed.
- Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology, or related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources, employee relations or related field, preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of employment documentation, HR best practices, and applicable employment laws is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
Work Hours
Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with additional hours as needed. Pace Pleasantville Campus//Hybrid, Travel to NYC and Haub Law School campuses, as needed.
