Employee Relations Consultant

Location: Houston, TX

Pay Rate: Starting at $40.00/hour

Schedule:Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM start

Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Consultant to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This opportunity is ideal for an HR professional with strong employee relations experience who can provide trusted guidance to employees and leaders, resolve workplace concerns, and promote a fair, consistent, and positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to front-line leaders and employees regarding employee relations matters.

     

  • Advise leaders on employee counseling, progressive discipline, performance management, and policy interpretation.

     

  • Support employee relations investigations and assist with resolving workplace concerns.

     

  • Provide guidance regarding employee rights and responsibilities under federal, state, and local employment laws.

     

  • Assist with employee terminations to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws.

     

  • Support accommodation requests, work restrictions, leaves of absence, fitness-for-duty matters, and employee assistance during crisis situations.

     

  • Research employee relations issues and provide appropriate recommendations and solutions.

     

  • Counsel employees regarding workplace-related concerns and HR policies.

     

  • Promote consistent, fair, respectful, and equitable application of employee relations practices.

     

  • Partner with HR departments including Payroll, Benefits, Talent, and other Centers of Excellence to resolve employee concerns.

     

  • Develop and facilitate training on employee relations topics.

     

  • Analyze employee relations data and provide insights and recommendations to leadership.

     

  • Maintain accurate case documentation in the employee relations case management system.

     

  • Handle sensitive and time-critical employee relations matters with professionalism and sound judgment.

     

  • Build trust and credibility with employees and leaders while maintaining confidentiality and neutrality.

     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

     

  • PHR or SHRM-C certification required.

     

  • 7 years of HR experience required, including experience as an HR/Employee Relations Consultant, HR Specialist, Senior HR Generalist, or HR Business Partner.

     

  • Minimum 5 years of Employee Relations experience required.

     

  • Strong knowledge of employee relations policies, procedures, and employment laws.

     

  • Experience with Kronos/time and attendance, employee discipline, workers' compensation, and workplace accommodations preferred.

     

  • Strong conflict resolution, problem-solving, decision-making, and relationship management skills.

     

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

     

  • Ability to establish credibility, build rapport, and develop trust with employees and leaders.

     

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

     

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions regarding sensitive employee matters.

     

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.

     

  • Ability to work collaboratively with HR teams and business leaders across multiple areas of the organization.

     

  • Strong knowledge of HR disciplines including compensation, organizational development, talent management, performance management, diversity, and employee relations.

     

  • Ability to remain composed and effective when handling urgent or crisis-related employee relations matters.
