Medical Director Responsibilities
As a Medical Director, you will partner closely with hospital leadership to ensure clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and provider engagement. Responsibilities include:
• Clinical oversight of ED providers • Quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics • Peer review and clinical guideline development • Provider recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship • Collaboration with nursing and administrative leadership • Supporting patient safety throughput and accreditation standards • Budgetary input and strategic planning for departmental growth
This role provides meaningful leadership influence while maintaining strong clinical engagement.
Dedicated Behavioral Health Emergency Services
St. Marys offers a separate dedicated behavioral/mental health emergency department staffed with psychiatric nurse practitioners, specialized nurses, and support staff - along with inpatient child/adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, and chemical dependency services. This structure enhances safety, improves patient flow, and allows emergency physicians to deliver focused, efficient care.

St. Marys Emergency Department has earned Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians.
