    Description

    The Department of Emergency Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time faculty physician to join our academic emergency medicine team at Duke University Hospital (DUH). Ideal candidates will have an MD or equivalent medical degree and will be board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine. Appointment will be determined at a rank commensurate with training and experience.  This position offers the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity, complex-care academic environment while building a career in clinical care, medical education, and scholarship.

    • Experience in high-acuity emergency or academic medicine and demonstrated interest or experience in an area of academic focus (e.g., research, medical education, health equity, administration, quality improvement) preferred.
    • Provide comprehensive emergency medical assessment, stabilization, and disposition for adult patients presenting to the Duke University Hospital Emergency Department, across a standard mix of day, evening, and overnight clinical shifts.
    • Supervise and teach Duke Emergency Medicine residents, off-service residents, and learners from the Duke School of Medicine and Duke Physician Assistant Program.
    • Collaborate with advanced practice providers (APPs) to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care.
    • Manage a wide range of critical and emergent conditions, including trauma, complex medical and surgical emergencies, and undifferentiated high-risk presentations.
    • Partner with multidisciplinary specialty teamsincluding trauma surgery, transplant, cardiology, neurology, oncology, and critical careto deliver coordinated, cutting-edge care.
    • Develop and sustain an area of scholarly or academic focus consistent with promotion criteria, which may include original research, medical education scholarship, quality improvement, health policy, or health equity work.
