At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Emergency Department team provides fast-paced, compassionate care to patients during critical moments. We're seeking a skilled and patient-focused Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) to support nurses and physicians in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality emergency care.
What You'll Do
- Assist RNs and physicians with patient care procedures and emergency interventions
- Obtain and document vital signs, specimens, and patient information accurately
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures following standard precautions
- Assist with splinting, wound care, immobilization, dressing changes, and patient preparation
- Transport patients for admissions, procedures, testing, and discharge
- Maintain and organize patient rooms, utility rooms, emergency carts, and supplies
- Monitor equipment and coordinate repairs with Biomed as needed
- Support patient flow in collaboration with Triage and clinical teams
- Perform clerical and receptionist duties including answering phones and documenting admissions/transfers/discharges
- Utilize computer systems for order entry and patient information support
Monitor Technician Responsibilities (as assigned)
- Observe telemetry monitors and identify cardiac rhythm changes
- Print rhythm strips and document findings per policy
- Immediately communicate cardiac rhythm changes to nursing leadership
- Notify Rapid Response or Code Blue teams as appropriate

- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with healthcare software preferred
Experience
- Prior EMT training and/or healthcare experience preferred
- Previous experience with patient care, vital signs, and activities of daily living preferred
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Requirements
- Current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license
- Current EMT or Paramedic certification
- Current BLS certification
- LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire
- Management of Aggressive Behavior certification within 30 days of hire
