Emergency Department Manager

Summit Pacific Medical Center is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Manager to provide clinical and operational leadership for our Emergency Department. This position oversees daily department operations, nursing practice, staffing, patient care delivery, quality, and regulatory compliance while supporting a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily clinical and operational activities of the Emergency Department.
  • Ensure safe, high-quality patient care and compliance with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage staffing, employee performance, competency, engagement, and departmental workflow.
  • Serve as a clinical and leadership resource during periods of high patient volume or acuity.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership, physicians, and other departments to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in department budgeting, expense management, performance monitoring, and improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement programs, processes, and policies that enhance quality, safety, patient outcomes, and departmental performance.
  • Co-lead the Unit Based Team and Staffing Committee.
  • Participate in Administrator On Call rotation and assume responsibility for hospital operations in the absence of designated nursing leadership.
  • Support staff development and foster a respectful, accountable, and collaborative team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN). An equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating the required knowledge and abilities may be considered, pending confirmation of BSN in progress.
  • Three (3) years of recent nursing experience in a hospital setting.
  • Three (3) years of charge nurse/supervisory experience OR one (1) year of management experience.
  • Current, unrestricted Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Emergency Department or Critical Care experience.
  • TNCC certification.
  • National nursing certification such as CEN, CCRN, or CMSRN.
