Overview
One Agency, One Mission: Public Safety
The Larimer County Sheriffs Office is seeking an experienced, collaborative leader to serve as our next Emergency Communications Manager. This position provides leadership and oversight of the Sheriffs Office Communications Center, one of five Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) serving Larimer County and a critical link in delivering emergency services throughout our community.
Our Communications Center is staffed by highly trained public safety professionals who answer and process emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinate law enforcement resources, and support emergency response operations across the county. The center provides communications support for Patrol, Emergency Services, Investigations, and Jail Operations, and serves as a vital partner to local fire and emergency medical agencies.
As part of the Combined Regional Information System Project (CRISP), our Communications Center participates in a multi-jurisdictional Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system that supports seamless information sharing and coordinated response among public safety agencies across the region. The Communications Center currently comprises 15 Emergency Communications Operators and 4 Emergency Communications Supervisors who work around the clock to provide reliable, professional service to the community.
The Emergency Communications Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating all communications center operations while fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, innovation, and employee development. This position provides leadership across personnel, technology systems, operational policies, training programs, quality assurance initiatives, and strategic planning to support the continued evolution of emergency communications services.
The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking leader who balances operational excellence with long-term planning, builds strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and effectively leads a high-performing team in a fast-paced public safety environment. This role requires sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to make informed decisions in routine and high-pressure situations.
If you are passionate about public safety, committed to developing people, and energized by the opportunity to lead a critical public safety function that directly affects the residents and visitors of Larimer County, we encourage you to apply. Join an organization dedicated to service, integrity, and innovation, and enjoy a supportive, team-oriented culture that values professional growth, collaboration, and community impact.
