    Description

Our client is a global leader in rugged computing and mission-critical hardware for the aerospace and defense industry, supporting advanced military technologies such as Level 4 computing systems for naval submarines. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing team, collaborate with elite engineers, and thrive in a lucrative, performance-driven environment.

We are seeking a customer-facing Embedded Systems Architect to lead Level 4 system integrations and serve as the technical expert during customer engagements. This role bridges engineering and sales by translating complex hardware solutions into customer-focused outcomes, architecting open standards-based computing systems, and helping secure business by overcoming technical challenges. The ideal candidate combines deep hardware engineering expertise with strong communication and consultative selling skills.

    Responsibilities

    • Architect and define open standards-based computing systems, specifically focusing on Level 4 integrations, to meet rigorous and highly specialized customer requirements.

    • Act as the primary technical subject matter expert in a fast-paced sales environment, accurately guiding clients through the capabilities and applications of ruggedized embedded hardware.

    • Partner directly with the sales organization to build strong client relationships, proactively overcome technical objections, and drive enterprise revenue generation.

    • Translate complex engineering nuances and product specifications into clear, concise, and efficient technical solutions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    • Collaborate closely with elite internal hardware engineering teams to ensure proposed solutions are viable and aligned with mission-critical defense standards.

    Qualifications

    • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, accompanied by a proven, established background in physical hardware engineering (pure software engineering backgrounds will not be a fit for this environment).

    • Technical Skills: Deep, hands-on hardware engineering expertise with a strong working knowledge of Level 4 system integrations and ruggedized computing.

    • Industry Expertise: Extensive experience utilizing open standards-based computing architecture; hands-on experience with VPX (highly preferred), VME, or SOSA is required. Experience with CompactPCI is a strong plus.

    • Soft Skills: Exceptional customer-facing communication skills with a polished, consultative "sales approach." Must be comfortable and effective at explaining highly technical concepts to non-technical decision-makers.

    • Compliance Requirements: Due to the nature of the work and strict government NDAs, candidates must meet ITAR compliance requirements.

    • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 20% for crucial customer site visits, high-level technical meetings, and an annual 3-day strategic sales summit (typically held in Fremont, CA).
