Embedded Software Engineer

Payrate: $45.00 - $47.00/hr.
 
Summary:
Provide additional testing support for the team to expand HIL, SIL verification and validation capacity to meet 2026 and 2027 Product Group commitments. This role offers hands-on experience in Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) verification and validation for embedded control systems, utilizing tools such as dSPACE, MATLAB/Simulink, and automation frameworks.
 
Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and maintain validation tests for embedded control software using dSPACE, MATLAB/Simulink, and automation tools.
• Engage in 40% HIL/SIL test development and execution, 30% test automation and scripting, 20% issue investigation and debugging, and 10% team collaboration, reviews, and planning.
• Work closely with software developers, controls engineers, system integration engineers, and verification & validation team members.
• Participate in technical discussions, defect reviews, and validation planning activities.

 
Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in embedded software engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, or a relevant field.
• Experience in HIL/SIL Validation & Testing.
• Proficiency with dSPACE toolchain & MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with Python, gtest C Automation & Embedded Software Verification.

 
Skills

• Experience with CAN/J1939 communication protocols and Vector tools (CANoe/CANalyzer).
• Experience in ECU integration, system-level verification, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle, version control, and test automation framework development.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, perform hardware setup, and troubleshoot HIL/SIL test environments.
• Familiarity with diagnostics, fault injections, and validation reporting tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting project deadlines.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with a continuous learning mindset.

 
Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $45.00 - $47.00 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
