    English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher

    Reports to:

    Supervisor of Pupil Services

    Primary Purpose:

    Provide English language instruction and support to students whose primary language is not English.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree or or higher from an accredited institution.
    • Valid license issued by the Ohio State Board of Education in Elementary and/or Secondary education
    • TESOL endorsement
    • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Successful BCI/FBI background check.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Administer the Ohio English Language Proficiency Screener (OELPS) to identify a student's level of English language proficiency.
    • Administer the OELPA yearly to English learners to determine proficient level.
    • Plan and deliver targeted English language instruction and adapt standard content-area lessons, such as math or science, so multilingual students can learn.
    • Build students' English language proficiency and support their academic success across content areas based on students' language proficiency and learning needs.
    • Develop and implement standards-aligned lessons that promote listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to support students' access to the general education curriculum.
    • Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate documentation of language development.
    • Communicate with families and school personnel regarding student progress and instructional needs.
    • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment.
