The English Language Learner (ELL) Aides main purpose is to provide instructional support to multilingual learners as they develop English language proficiency and succeed in the general education curriculum. The ELL Aide works under the direction of the classroom teacher, principal, and/or designated ELL teacher to implement language supports and instructional interventions for English Learners.
This position would include:
- Assisting English Learners individually and in small groups to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.
- Reinforcing classroom instruction by providing additional language support during and outside of classroom instruction as directed.
- Working with the ELL teacher to implement instructional strategies that promote English language acquisition and academic success.
- Assisting with classroom accommodations and modifications for English Learners.
- Helping prepare instructional materials, resources, and activities that support language development.
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining records of instructional support provided.
- Assisting with the administration and organization of English language proficiency assessments as directed.
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, the ELL teacher, and administration regarding student progress and instructional needs.
- Communicating appropriately with families, utilizing district procedures and translation resources when necessary.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Principal or ELL Coordinator.
