General Statement of Duties

Forsyth County DSS is seeking a highly motivated, dependable, and professional Eligibility Specialist III (Lead Worker) to join the LTC/SA/PACE Application Team.

Distinguishing Features

This position determines eligibility for State programs and serves as a key resource for PACE, CAP, Skilled Care, Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, and Special Assistance applicants and recipients.

The successful candidate must demonstrate advanced communication and exceptional customer service skills; the ability to interpret complex rules and regulations, exercise sound judgment, make appropriate eligibility decisions, work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and perform basic mathematical calculations.

The Eligibility Specialist III will provide leadership through guidance, support, coaching, and timely feedback; remain current on policy and system changes; assist with complex case issues; and train and mentor new and existing Eligibility Specialists.

Minimum Education and Experience

Graduation from high school or GED and two (2) years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or closely related experience.

A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for these positions.

The candidates selected for these positions will need to be able to attend state and local trainings in regards to program requirements.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, flexibility, professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to the WeCare principles of Integrity, Awareness, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. (DSS/Medicaid Services/Adult Medicaid) Prefer two years or more experience as an Adult Medicaid Eligibility Specialist.
