OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Elevator Circuit Board Repair Technician to join our in house electronics repair team. This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and testing elevator controller boards, drive boards, and related PCB assemblies. Ideal candidates bring a blend of documented technical experience and undocumented, hands on tribal knowledge gained through years of working with elevator electronics, legacy systems, and non standard equipment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform bench level diagnostics, repair, and refurbishment of elevator controller boards, drive boards, and PCB components
Troubleshoot complex electronic failures using schematics, meters, scopes, and personal undocumented experience with older or modified systems
Rebuild and reflash controller boards, including legacy and discontinued models
Conduct functional testing and quality checks to ensure boards meet operational standards
Identify root causes of board failures and recommend corrective actions
Maintain repair logs, part usage, and testing documentation
Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams on unique or undocumented board issues
Support continuous improvement of repair processes, testing procedures, and component handling
Work independently on high complexity repairs requiring deep familiarity with elevator electronics
3+ years repairing elevator controllers, drive boards, VFDs, or similar industrial electronics
Strong PCB level troubleshooting skills (meters, scopes, soldering, component testing)
Ability to diagnose issues without full documentation-relying on historical, tribal, or hands on knowledge
Experience with elevator control systems, power electronics, or automation equipment
Familiarity with legacy elevator boards and non standard configurations
Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and component layouts
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
High attention to detail and quality control
Prior experience in an elevator electronics repair shop or controls manufacturing environment
Experience repairing VFDs used in elevator applications
Knowledge of controller families from major elevator manufacturers
Ability to mentor junior technicians on undocumented repair techniques
Competitive hourly rate based on experience, including premium consideration for candidates with strong undocumented/tribal knowledge of elevator electronics.
