classroom
instructional
programs
and
related
activities
consistent
with
building
and
district
curriculum
to
meet
the
needs
of
high
school
Multilingual
(ML)
students.
Diagnose
and
prescribe
learning
and
training
experiences
for
individual
ML
students
Provide
for
individual
needs
of
assigned
ML
students.
Cooperate
with
director,
principal,
department
chairperson,
staff,
and
community
in
implementation
of
comprehensive
ML
instructional
and
activities
programs.
Other
related
duties
and
responsibilities
as
assigned.
Training and knowledge desired :
Strong
skills
and
background
in
instructional
methods
and
strategies
for
language
acquisition.
GLAD
and/or
SIOP
trained.
Experience
with
refugee
students
and
families.
Bilingual
certification.
Candidates
must
have
the
ability
to
establish
rapport
with
ELL
and
refugee
students,
families,
community
resources,
colleagues,
and
classified
personnel
who
assist
with
the
ELL
instruction.
Positive
past
experience
working
in
a
standards-based
teaching
and
learning
environment
preferred.
Participation
in
Professional

Communities
desired.
Requirements :
Valid
Washington
State
Teaching
Certificate
with
appropriate
endorsements.

This position is primarily classroom-based, with the teacher frequently standing, walking, and actively engaging with students
during
instructional
activities.
It
may
require
occasional
bending,
lifting,
or
carrying
of
instructional
materials
and
supplies
weighing
up
to
25
pounds.
Extended
periods
of
sitting
may
be
necessary
for
planning,
assessing
student
work,
or
entering
data.
The
role
requires
clear
speech
and
hearing
for
effective
communication
with
multilingual
students, families, and staff, as well as visual acuity to support instructional delivery and monitor student progress. Work
Environment:
Work
is
conducted
primarily
indoors
in
a
high
school
classroom
setting,
with
occasional
responsibilities
in
other
school
spaces
or
community-based
locations
for
family
engagement
or
student
support.
The
noise
level
can
vary
from
quiet
during
instructional
time
to
moderate
during
student
transitions
and
collaborative
activities.
The
ML
teacher
will
interact
frequently
with
culturally
and
linguistically
diverse
students,
families,
and
colleagues
and
must
demonstrate
a
high
degree
of
cultural
competence
and
sensitivity.
The
role
may
involve
navigating
language
barriers,
coordinating
with
interpreters,
and
working
closely
with
school
