Position: Elementary Special Education Resource Room Teacher
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or ability to enroll in university program
through Grow Your Own grant funding to obtain certification
- Endorsement in at least one area of special education or ability to enroll in
university program through Grow Your Own grant funding to obtain
certification
- Proven successful experience in working with students with disabilities
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to engage students actively and meaningfully in their learning
Responsibilities:
- Must possess and demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional
strategies that have been designed to benefit all students.
- Monitor and track the implementation of IEP goals, supplemental aides,
services and supports.
- The teacher will serve as a primary contact for parents and legal guardians
for their assigned caseload students.
- The teacher will assess student progress and determine the need for
additional instructional support.
- The assigned teacher will use research-based instruction to address the
instructional goals and objectives that are written into each student's IEP.
- The assigned teacher will provide direction, and supervision to the para
educators that are assigned to work with students that are on their
caseload.
- The teacher will comply with Board of Education policies and all
state/federal rules and regulations.
- The teacher will provide other services as directed by the Executive
Director of Student Support Services and the assigned building principal.
- The teacher will collaborate and consult with classroom teachers in order
to meet the need of their assigned caseload students.
- The teacher will conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations.

Compensation: Per WEA Master Agreement
