Position Summary:
Ambassador Christian Academy is seeking dependable and safety-minded individual to serve as Elementary School Bus Driver. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of elementary school students to and from school and school-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create assigned routes and bus schedule
- Operate a school bus safely along assigned routes and schedule
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition
- Monitor vehicle condition and promptly report any mechanical issues or safety concerns
- Track routine maintenance needs (e.g., oil changes, tire checks, brake inspections) and notify transportation administration when service is due
- Ensure the bus remains clean, fueled, and properly maintained at all times
- Ensure student safety during loading, unloading, and transit
- Maintain discipline and adhere to school transportation policies
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and school staff
- Transport students for field trips and extracurricular activities and other school events as needed
- Keep accurate records related to transportation activities
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check, and drug/alcohol screening
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and school bus safety regulations
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Prior experience in student transportation or working with children preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience driving a school bus or other large commercial vehicle
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Patience and a strong sense of responsibility
