Position Summary

A Site Director will oversee the daily operations of a specific MPS After School program site (Brooks, McGlynn, Missituk, Roberts). MPS sites are out-of-school time programs that develop creative, resilient, resourceful and responsible youth in grades K 5.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and implement an integrated out-of-school time experience that enhances and complements the learning experience for students.
  • Work with MPS Managing Director to manage MPS site staff.
  • Lead MPS programming for students.
  • Serve as the contact for parents and school administration for day-to-day operations.
  • Represent the program in MPS schools, at community events, and related activities.
  • Supports recruitment, retention and management of program participants (youth participants and volunteers).
  • Enhances youth involvement and ownership of program.
  • Creates and fosters relationships with program participants

Program Operations Management 80%

  • Design and implement rich, age-appropriate curriculum that helps to achieve MPS goals and core values, collaborating with other MPS Directors and other subject matter experts.
  • Participate regularly in developmental programming to remain current on trends in the field.
  • Plans and facilitates site/organization wide community building events.
  • Manage all daily aspects of the program: scheduling, licensing compliance, processing related paperwork, hiring and training staff and following budget guidelines.
  • Oversee and supervise general staff functions including recruiting, training, development, assignments, employee relations, and managing staff meetings.
  • Conduct routine employee observations and semi-annual performance reviews.
  • Supervise staff and follow through with training and professional development plans.
  • Working closely with the program staff, manage the daily program, participating with students and families to support the program and gain insights into the effectiveness of various activities and techniques.
  • Collects data from site and creates program reports; works with the Managing Director and the Superintendent or her designee to analyze and use data for program evaluation and refinement.
  • Supports volunteer training (logistical prep, curriculum development/refinement, and facilitation, depending on interest).
  • Serve in support-manager and administrator role at MPS Vacation Camps, following the lead of the Managing Director for Programming.

Administration10%

  • Establish and maintain all student attendance, accident and incident reports and email and phone correspondence. Report all accident reports immediately to the Managing Director.
  • Participate in job search and interviews for staff positions.
  • Communicate with MPS Finance Office and Executive Director regarding all tuition matters and site expenses.
  • Coordinate opportunities for parents to inform and provide feedback and input on programming (surveys, open house events, etc.)

Communications and Outreach5%

  • Maintain proactive communication with MPS Managing Director and respective school community.
  • Serve as professional liaison with school principal, teachers, support staff, other programs.
  • Serve as a representative for the professional accountability and integrity of the program to its constituents, school and city officials as needed and appropriate.
  • Seek out and implement outreach to the community, which also includes attending or sponsoring events.

Other Responsibilities as needed approximately 5%

  • Oversee first aid and emergency situations; maintain accurate documentation of all incidents.
  • Other duties as requested or needed.

Qualifications:

  • Positive, constructive attitude, eager to refine expertise and elevate MPS programming.
  • Attaining First Aid/ CPR certification.
  • Attending mandatory staff meetings.
  • Completing all mandatory trainings required; professional development that is offered through MPS and outside approved professional development opportunities.
  • Computer literacy required
  • Familiar with EEC Qualifications 102 CMR 7.00

Working Conditions

  • Full time position based in respective school offices.
  • Ability to work 180 days of the school year for 40 hour per week position. Additionally, about 12 days to plan/prep/launch the school year at the beginning of the year, as well as closing out at the end of school year

Compensation:

Work year is 192 days with flexible full-time hours for the supervision of programming at respective elementary school.

Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with a pay range of $55,000 - $65,000 annually.
