Human Resources Specialist
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Maximize achievement and growth for all students through building capacity in teachers by providing ongoing
coaching. Support teachers in learning and applying best practices in a variety of educational settings by promoting
collaboration, modeling innovation, and promoting a growth mindset.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Master's degree preferred
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Valid ESL Supplemental Certification
Minimum of 30 Gifted & Talented clock hours or a commitment to complete the required hours
Willingness to obtain additional certifications (as needed)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and research-based "best practices"
Understanding of curriculum, implementation, and standards alignment
Experience working with teachers to improve instruction and student learning
Evidence of strong planning and organizational skills
Ability to model lessons and to provide coaching to adults
Ability to disaggregate and analyze data
Ability to work with diverse populations
Ability to structure own time and management of multiple priorities
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Ability to effectively communicate with others in written, interpersonal, and verbal formats (listening)
Demonstrates flexibility
Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as part of a team and solve problems collaboratively
Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate relationships
Evidence of taking district or campus leadership positions or opportunities over the past three years
Knowledge of the change process and ability to be an agent of change
Knowledge of the RTI Process to assist teachers in planning student interventions
Ability to utilize technology for communication, planning, training and classroom instruction
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development
Understanding of student engagement and how it relates to instructional design
Understanding of strategies to meet the needs of students of special populations, such as English Learners,
gifted and talented, and students served by special education
Willingness to participate in professional learning related to instructional coaching
Experience:
At least five years of teaching experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Role of Instructional Specialist:
- Assist teachers in the implementation of effective instructional strategies that respond to the needs of
diverse learners.
- Plan with teams and/or individual teachers to select and implement appropriate and effective
strategies to meet the needs of all students.
- Support the use of a variety of research-based resources to improve instruction.
Role of Curriculum Specialist:
- Support teachers to deepen their content knowledge.
- Assist teachers in aligning the written, taught, and tested curriculum.
- Assist teachers in developing standards based learning and assessments.
Role of Classroom Supporter:
- Build staff capacity by providing support, training, coaching and collaborative problem solving with the
expectation of improved instruction and increased student learning.
- Provide support, model, co-plan or co-teach lessons and/or effective instructional strategies, and
observe and give feedback to teachers to ensure the alignment of instruction to curriculum.
- Provide support, model, co-plan or co-teach management techniques, and observe and give feedback
to teachers.
- Provide direct classroom support to teachers based on a gradual release model that ranges from
modeling to co-teach to observation with feedback.
- Assist teachers in implementing standards-based learning and assessments.
Role of Data Coach:
- Facilitate conversations with colleagues to analyze different types of data and to identify campus,
grade level, department and/or classroom trends.
- Provide support in using data from multiple measures to impact instructional decisions at the campus,
grade level, department and/or classroom level.
- Support teachers in the analysis of data to identify and differentiate for the individual needs of
students.
Role of Learning Facilitator:
- Collaborate with campus and district administrators to design, coordinate, and implement targeted,
job-embedded, and standards-based professional learning.

- Serve as a member of district leadership teams and other assigned district committees/leadership

- Perform duties as needed to support meeting the goals and objectives in the Campus/District

- Compile, maintain, and file all required physical and computerized reports, records, and other
documents.
- Model behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
- Attend all District-initiated professional development related to the position.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board
policy in guidance and counseling areas.
- Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.

- Maintain friendly customer service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers,
administrators, and co-workers.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department
are met.
- Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communications (i.e., email, written, and verbal)
- Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Personal Computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Frequent walking.
Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment. Work
inside may work outside; regular exposure to noise. Maintain emotional control under stress: work prolonged or
irregular hours.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on Evaluations.
